Fall Ball General Information

Fall Ball is a ~10 week program beginning in early September and ending before Thanksgiving. Registration opens June 16th and closes when teams are full or when the season has begun, whichever occurs earlier.

Fall Ball is primarily focused on instruction and player development. Games are not scored and there are no season standings. Teams practice 1-2 times during the week, and play 1 game per week typically on SUNDAYS, in an effort to avoid conflict with other sports traditionally played on Saturdays in the fall. Instruction is stressed over gameplay and some of the formality of the Spring Season. Team photos, trophies, and tournaments are not included to keep the fees low.

Starting Fall 2024, those players who are under the league age of 8 and live outside of the Laguna Hills Little League boundaries may play with LHLL.  Players league age 8 and older must still live or attend school within the LHLL boundaries. Please check your home/school address HERE prior to registering. Any refunds requested due to boundary issues or inability to provide sufficient evidence of residency/school enrollment are subject to the Standard Refund Policy.

Divisions of Play: Descriptions of each division of play are found in the details of each division below.  Players may register for and play in any division for which they meet the age requirements. There are no Player Evaluations or draft process for Fall Ball.

2024 Fall Ball Information

Registration Price: Our Fall Ball registration price remains unchanged at only $135 for ~10 weeks of baseball. Your registration fee will include a Fall Ball jersey and a hat.

Refund policy: A full refund of the registration price paid (less $10 processing fee to cover our costs of issuing a refund to your credit card) will be issued for all refund requests received by July 31, 2024. No refunds will be issued after July 31 as uniforms and equipment will already be ordered.

Divisions & League Age: Fall Ball 2024 League Age is determined by adding +1 to the Spring 2024 League Age Chart (as the Spring 2025 league age chart is not yet available). The Spring 2025 age chart is used because the Fall season is intended to develop players in preparation for the following Spring season. League age 5 players who have already played a season of Little League T-Ball may request to play up to Rookie. League age 6 players who have already played a season of Little League Rookie may request to play up to Single A. Please email your request to [email protected]AA and above division players: Fall Ball division placement does not guarantee or imply Spring Season 2025 division placement, as Spring Season placement is determined via player evaluations and draft.

Division/Team Assignment: Due to the instructional/non-competitive nature of the Fall Ball program, there are no player evaluations and your player will be placed on a team in the division you select during online registration. Coach/friend requests are considered for all divisions, but not guaranteed as we try to build teams evenly based on past playing experience, etc. Team assignments will be announced mid-August.

Document Check requirements: Our registration platform, Sports Connect, provides us with the capability to accept uploads of birth certificates. You will be required to upload a legible copy of your player's birth certificate for birth date verification upon creation of a new account.  A birth certificate is required for all players.

Residency verification will be required ONLY for those players who did not play in Spring 2024 and for those players who are league age 8+. If you did not play in Spring 2024 and are league age 8+, please click HERE for a list of documents required to complete registration. All documents can be emailed to [email protected]Team assignments will only be made upon completion of all required paperwork.

Uniforms and equipment required for each player: Each player will need to provide his/her own baseball pants, socks, belt, cleats, protective cup and gear (a glove, batting helmet, and USA Baseball standard bat). We recommend holding off on purchasing apparel items until your team has been assigned and you know what your team color will be.

Schedule: Game Schedules will be available 1-2 weeks before the first game, which is currently planned for September 22nd. Managers will receive their practice slots around the same time. The last game will be scheduled on or before the Sunday prior to Thanksgiving. Please be advised that due to the increasing popularity of our Fall Ball program, game start times are no longer limited to Sunday afternoons and may include occasional Friday evenings, Sunday mornings and/or Sunday evenings depending on the number of teams, field allocations, and interleague team/field availability. There will not be any evening games for lower divisions (T-Ball, Rookie, and Single A).

Fall Volunteers: Laguna Hills Little League is a 100% volunteer-run organization, and we ask each family to fulfill a volunteer role for each player in the program. Volunteer roles needed on each team are as follows. All LHLL volunteers must complete a background check on an annual basis.

  • Manager/Head Coach (1) – Being a Manager requires time, patience, and a basic knowledge of the game.  You should be able to attend the majority of games and practices.  The Manager will plan and run practices/drills will also be responsible for creating gameday lineups. Completion of online trainings (concussion, sudden cardiac arrest, and child abuse mandated reporter) within the past few seasons is required. Managers are also subject to LiveScan fingerprinting, per California law, which is required only ONCE.
  • Team Parent (1) - Primary responsibilities will include assisting the Manager with administrative matters such as managing team schedule/calendar, picking up/distributing uniforms, helping to remind players/families to comply with safety protocols, communicating league/team matters to parents, etc.
  • Assistant Coaches (2) – The Assistant Coach will assist the Manager with running practices/drills and helping to coach and organize the players on game day. Completion of online trainings (concussion, sudden cardiac arrest, and child abuse mandated reporter) within the past few seasons is required. Assistant Coaches are also subject to LiveScan fingerprinting, per California law, which is required only ONCE.
  • Umpires (2) - Umpire volunteers are required for AA and above divisions only, and you will be umpiring your own child's game - Home team provides plate umpire, Visitor provides base umpire. Training will be provided by the league prior to the first game for those who are new or would like a refresher. Completion of online trainings (concussion, sudden cardiac arrest, and child abuse mandated reporter) within the past few seasons is required. Those who umpire 5+ games per month or 10+ games over the year are also subject to LiveScan fingerprinting, per California law, which is only required ONCE.

Additional volunteers may be needed by the team (e.g. bringing post-game snacks, field prep/cleanup, unofficial scorekeeping/pitch counting, etc.)  - these are in addition to the above volunteer roles needed by the league and will NOT count towards your player's volunteer credit required by the league.
